In the begining
Our troop includes girls from kindergarten, first grade, and second grade at Shoal Creek Elementary in Conyers, Georgia. I'm Tina Welch, the Troop Leader and teacher at SCE. Our assistant leader is Lisa Leigh, and she is also a teacher at SCE. Girl Scouting is new for us and we are going through the journey right along with the girls, and enjoying every minute of it.
When we found out that we couldn't meet at our school as we'd hoped, the quest began for a meeting place. Did you know that it costs $100 per use to use a meeting room at the public library? Well, as we continued our search, we settled on a local grocery store. Yes, grocery store. :) The Kroger near our school has a conference room that they offered to let us use, and this is now our regular meeting place. It's very convenient, actually!!
I've designed this blog both as a means of communicating with parents and as a way to document our journey. Below I'll share photos from our first few meetings.
