The
event is from 2-5 at the Newton County College & Career Center.
The address is 144 Ram Drive, Covington (it's off Brown Bridge behind
the high school). Please arrive at 1:30 (or as close to it as possible) so we can be set up when the event begins at 2. :)
The
girls will dress in traditional Irish peasant dress from the medieval
time period.. Above is the look we're going for. The green "overdress"
is completed and I will bring it to the event. (Not nearly as cute as
this picture, but it'll do. LOL) Girls should wear the longest
skirt/dress they have and long sleeves, solid colors if possible; tights
& mary janes/ dress shoes. (I realize this is the ideal- do
whatever you have in the closet that is the closest!)
The girls have made headbands similar to those worn by Irish dancers. I will bring them as well. These are usually worn with wigs
of abundant curly hair. I'm going to roll Abby's hair on foam rollers
and have her sleep on them- then take them out and put her hair up in
the morning- to get the closest look. AGAIN, this is ideal- do whatever
works for you. (I'm aware that we're mixing two styles/time periods here... just go with it. LOL)
Faith's grandma will be making traditional Irish Bread Pudding for us to share with the other festival participants. :) THANK YOU!!
THIS IS MEANT TO BE FUN FOR ALL !! :)
The
event itself will consist of a brief period of presentations (dances,
songs, etc.) onstage, then everyone in attendance will have the
opportunity to visit each country's table to learn about them, trade
S.W.A.P.S., try the food, etc. We will need to have girls to "man the
station" for the entire event. Please don't plan to stop in and leave
right away.
Thanks for all your support!
